Cubs climbing

The unseasonally hot weather seems to have forced the bears off the valley roads and into the backcountry. Nevertheless we saw around half a dozen with the last group of guests including this great bit of viewing.

As we rounded a corner we came across a black bear mum with two cubs. The two cubs-of-the-year shot up a tree. We waited for a few minutes, keeping a respectful distance, and then they slowly began to come down again to rejoin mum. Gillian, our naturalist, captured one of them with this photo.
